Abstract
931,304. Rotary joints. H. N. K. PATON. April 4, 1961, No. 12072/61. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXX] In apparatus for feeding granular material in which a flexible tube 95, Fig. 9, receiving the material at one end is squeezed between rollers moving progressively along the tube to form pockets of trapped material. Provision is made for progressively rotating or oscillating the tube 95 which is mounted at each end on rotary seals 98 intermittently rotated through ratchet gear 127 and worm wheel 120. In a modification the worm wheel may oscillate the rotary seal 98 through a crank and rack and pinion mechanism (not shown) so that pinching of longitudinal seams of the tube 95 between the rollers is avoided.
