Abstract
929,902. Reciprocating motors. USINES CHAUSSON S.A. DES. March 2, 1961 [March 3, 1960], No. 7644/61. Class 35. The reciprocating soft iron armature 17 of an electromagnetic pump unit operated by the effect of flux 20 produced by A.C. energized coils 8, 9 on the flux from radially magnetized permanent magnets 10, is a tube having coaxial longitudinally extending rods 23, 24 integral with core 22. Radial slots cut in the outer periphery of armature 17 canalize the permanent magnet flux and reduce iron losses and springs 29, 30 placed around the rods allow the oscillation of the armature to be maintained. Low-pressure fluid in chamber 1 is compressed in cylinder 36 by piston 37 integral with rod 23 and exhausts into pressure chamber 39 through non-return valve 42 when the armature moves in direction F1. Suction from chamber 1 through tubes into cylinder 36 via valve 38 takes place when the armature moves in the opposite direction. Lubricating oil 45 may be pumped by the action of rod 24 in boss 32 through rods 24, 23 into annular duct 44 to lubricate the piston or the compressor may be double acting by having a first stage replacing boss 32. Sintered bronze impregnated with a self-lubricating plastic material e.g. P.T.F.E. may be used for the cylinder walls.
