Abstract

929,843. Parking meters. BLOCTUBE CONTROLS Ltd. April 17, 1962 [Jan. 18, 1961], No. 2039/61. Class 27. A parking meter, such as that described in Specification 775,509, has means for temporarily holding an undersize coin without it actuating the meter mechanism and for releasing it on insertion of a further coin so that the user of the meter can reclaim the undersized coin. An inserted coin, after actuating bell-cranks 44, 46, comes to rest on a stop finger 78 and, if of correct size, sets a lever 103 so that the complete cycle of the mechanism can take place. During the latter part of the cycle, the finger 78 is withdrawn and the coin falls to a member 13 where it remains until a further coin is inserted and causes withdrawal of the member 13 so that the coin falls to a coin box. An undersize coin, such as a two-shilling piece, resting on the finger 78 fails to set the lever 103 correctly for operation of the meter but when a further coin, say a half-crown is inserted, the crank 44 opens a door 110 and an ejection member 121 on the door pushes the undersize coin into a V-shaped trough 1 leading to an outlet 2. A spring-loaded flap 3 closes the outlet and has an arm 4 which, on raising of the flap, propels the coin through the outlet.
