Abstract

928,997. Valves. G. KROMSCHRODER A.G. Feb. 5, 1962 [Feb. 6, 1961; April 29, 1961], No. 4313/62. Class 135. Upon closure of a switch 22 three parallelconnected solenoid windings 101, 10<SP>11</SP>, 10<SP>111</SP> are joined to an A.C. supply via a rectifier 21; the inner winding 10<SP>1</SP> is directly energized so elevating a three-part armature 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP>, 6<SP>111</SP> and unseating a lift closure member 2 to a position where both of its throttling plugs 8, 9 are disposed within the seat 3. The other two windings 10<SP>11</SP>, 10<SP>111</SP> are initially ineffective since the associated circuits include resistances 20, 20<SP>1</SP> of negative temperature coefficient. As the temperature of resistance 20 increases, the current through winding 10<SP>11</SP> also increases and the three-part armature is slowly elevated to a position in which only throttling plug 9 is within the seat. After a further period the winding 10<SP>111</SP> is also gradually energized whereupon the closure member 2 is fully open as shown. Windings 10<SP>11</SP>, 10<SP>111</SP> are each in circuit with a thermostatically controlled switch 23 or 23<SP>1</SP> which may be responsive to room temperature if the closure member 2 controls the flow of heating medium to the room. Further switching stages may be added or one stage omitted. The windings are of equal height and the three armatures, which are of different length, are connected by rods 7<SP>11</SP>, 7<SP>111</SP> of different length, the longer rod 7<SP>111</SP> interconnecting the shortest armatures. The plugs 8, 9 are of equal height and correspond to the stroke length of the windings with which they are associated.
