Abstract

928,883. Synchronous machines; automatic voltage control; transformers; rectifying. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Oct. 28, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1958], No. 36598/59. Classes 35, 38 (2) and 38 (4)]. In a synchronous generator or machine installation which includes an exciter machine 3 from which exciting current is fed through dry rectifiers 10, 11 to the rotating field winding 2 of the generator or machine, the rectifiers are of the semi-conductor type, connected in anti-parallel, and are controlled via contactless, transmitters 14 by such a stationary control device 12 that rapid deexcitation can be effected. The rectifiers may be of the silicon controlled type, and in normal operation, the rectifiers 10 conduct the exciting current J e and the rectifiers 11 are blocked, but during deexcitation and when the current J e has fallen to zero, the rectifiers 10 are blocked and the residual field is eliminated by rendering rectifiers 11 conductive of an opposing current J eg . The exciter machine 3 has a stationary exciter winding 4 fed with current i e from a voltage regulator 5 in turn supplied by the stationary armature winding 6a of an auxiliary exciter machine 6 having a rotary inductor 6b the poles of which may be permanent magnets. The main generator, which may be a 3 ph. turbo-generator, has a stator winding 1 in the output conductors of which are arranged current and voltage transformers 7, 8 which transmit to the regulator 5 and control device 12 currents and voltages which are proportional to those of the generator output. The voltage regulator 5 may be of the contact, magnetic or transistor type, and the control device 12 may be a contact apparatus or embody saturated magnetic regulators or electron tubes or transistors. Further transmitters 15 . . . 17 convey to the regulator 5 and device 12 indications of the voltages and current in the exciting circuit. The transmitters 16, 17 may comprise, Fig. 3, a single- or 3-phase stationary winding 23 in which the indications are induced by conductors 22a connected in the exciting circuit and disposed in slots in a part 21 of the installation shaft line. In Fig. 4 the inductor of transmitter 16 alternatively comprises field current carrying conductors 43 in a central bore of the shaft 40 and which induce a magnetic field in a diametrically disposed laminated pole body 42. Fig. 6 shows the transmitters 14, 15 as comprising radially laminated cores 31, 34 which are respectively rotary and stationary, and have associated windings 32, 35.
