Abstract
928,344. Coin-freed apparatus. E. LIEBLER, H. LIEBLER, H. SEITZ, G. SEITZ, E. LIEGEL-SEITZ, R. LIEGEL-SEITZ, I. SEITZ, and H. SPENGLER, [trading as SEITZ AUTOMATENBAUGESELLSCHAFT]. Aug. 12, 1960 [Aug. 12, 1959], No. 27971/60. Class 27. Vending apparatus for selling at different prices from adjacent magazines has a common coin mechanism having a lever 12 pivoted on a bar 11 which is raised when a delivery means, such as a drawer, is operated; the lower end 32 of the lever 12 supports an inserted coin or coins so that the coin or the uppermost coin will engage under one of several pawls arranged one above the other and cause tilting of the lever 12 so that it clears a catch block 15. As shown in Fig. 5, two coin pockets 16, 18 for different coins are provided and each has a set of three pawls 19a, 19b, 19c or17a, 17b, 17c. The pawls pivot to their coin-engaging position by gravity and the two lower pawls in each pocket have tails projecting into recesses 21, 22 in operating bars 24, 20. Up to three lower-value coins can be inserted in one pocket and up to three higher-value coins in the other and transfer means (not shown) operates on withdrawal of a particular drawer to raise the bars 24, 20 to withdraw one or both of the lower pawls from one or both coin pockets to set the price required for release of the drawer. In their normal positions, the ends 32 of the levers 12 lie below a coin-return shoot 33 and the toes 26, 28 of spring-loaded blocking levers 31a, 31b block the shoot openings. In Figs. 5 and 8 is shown the case where two coins are required in the pocket 16 and one in the pocket 18, but an attempt is made to withdraw a drawer when only one coin has been inserted. The bar 24 for pocket 16 is raised by one unit of coin diameter as the drawer is pulled and moves the pawl 19a out of the pocket so that the lever 12 is lifted until it is in line with the return shoot. The toes 26, 28 are wihtdrawn from the return shoots as a pin 30 on the bar 11 moves into recesses 35 in the levers 31a, 31b and the coin passes out of the pocket to a coin-return cup. If the required coins have been inserted, the uppermost coin in pocket 16 engages the pawl 19b and the coin in pocket 18 engages pawl 17a and both levers 12 tilt so that the coins fall to a cash box and the upper ends of the levers move clear of the block 15. As the bar 11 moves up, the pin 30 passes through the recesses 35 and the toes 26, 28 return to block the coin-return shoots. Where the price requires coins in one pocket only, the transfer means moves the bar 20 or 24 for the empty pocket up until it contacts a lever 23 or 25 which moves the corresponding lever 12 clear of the block 15. Where only one coin pocket is provided, the pawl may be disposed at a level corresponding to the total diameter of two coins of different values or pawls may be disposed at different levels so that one more spaces may accommodate more than one coin and the other spaces a single coin.
