927,664. Tanks. METAL-CLADDING Inc. Nov. 29, 1961, No. 42743/61. Class 69 (1). A cylindrical storage tank is formed of segments 21, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> of plastic material bonded together to form continuous side walls around which a high-tensile cable 9 of lesser elasticity than the plastic is wound in spaced-apart coils and is attached at its ends to the top and bottom of the tank. Four segments 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> or 4<SP>1</SP> are joined by their side flanges 5 to form circular layers 2, 3 and 4 which are bonded one above the other by their top and bottom flanges 6, and in the case of the layer 4, also to the tank base 8, which is of plastic. The flanges 5 have grooves to accommodate the cable whose coils are spaced closer together in the bottom layers than on the less highly stressed top layers. The layers are assembled on the base 8, starting with the top one, each successive layer being raised by jacks after being wound with wire from a coil on a dolly at the centre of the base.
