Abstract
927,206. Control of A.C. motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 23, 1960 [Dec. 8, 1959], No. 41747/59. Class 38 (3). In a control arrangement for a wound rotor induction motor, power is fed back into the A.C. supply from the secondary windings of the motor, each phase of the secondary windings being connected to each phase of the supply through a semi-conductor controlled rectifier having an anode and a cathode connected in said phases and a gate to which a control signal can be applied for controlling the feedback of power. In one embodiment the control signals to be applied to the base electrodes of the rectifiers are derived from a transformer through a phase-shift network, the rectifiers being of the silicon-controlled type. The secondary windings are short-circuited while the motor is running at full speed to prevent feedback of current by the rectifiers except during acceleration and deceleration of the motor.
