927,176. Power-lift linkages. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Aug. 25, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 29075/59. Class 79(1) A tractor power-lift hydraulic system comprises a pump 3 mounted in a sump 1 supplying fluid through a pipe 2 to a distributer 4 controlled by a valve slide 10 and from which fluid may be supplied to a power cylinder 5, discharged to the sump or supplied to auxiliary mechanism through a pipe 28, the valve slide 10 being connected both to a control handle 12 and to the powerlift arm 9 by a linkage 11. The fluid supply pipe 2 has a relief valve controlled by a rod 26 actuated by the piston 6 at the maximum lifting position. In the initial, inoperative position, Fig. 1, fluid from the pipe 2 enters a chamber 14 blocked by the valve slide, build-up of pressure within which opens a valve 17 allowing the pressure fluid to discharge to the sump. The chamber 14 is reached through a throttle orifice 15. In order to lift the arm 9, the handle 12 is moved to the right, Fig. 2, moving the slide 10 to the left, and opening the chamber 14 through a passage 13 to the sump, thus closing the valve 17. The fluid pressure from 2 now opens valves 18 and 23 and the lift cylinder is supplied. As the arm is raised the valve slide is moved to the right by the linkage 11 until a position is reached in which the opening 13 is closed, causing the valve 17 to open, pressure within the cylinder causing valves 18 and 23 to close and so the raised position is retained. To lower the arm 9, the handle 12 is moved to the left as shown in Fig. 3, causing the slide 10 to move to the right and thus the cylindrical portion 10<SP>2</SP> will open the valve 18 by raising the rod 20. The rate of discharge can be controlled by a manually operable valve 21. As the lift arm 9 descends it moves the slide to the left and the movement will cease when the valve 18 is reclosed. A valve 24 for throttling the pressure fluid may be employed to provide limited lift to obtain weight transfer. A three-way cock 27 may be employed in the " lift " position to operate auxiliary apparatus.
