Abstract

926,663. Blinds. K. W. BRADSHAW. Sept. 29, 1960 [Sept. 30, 1959], No. 33225/59. Class 20 (3). A blind comprises two or more parallel relatively movable close-spaced sheets 11, 12, e.g. of P.V.C. having alternate transparent stripes 31 and translucent or obscured stripes 30 of light reflecting surfaces such as sprayed metallic coatings or metal foil applied to or incorporated in the sheet during manufacture, the relative movement being such as to bring the obscured stripes of one sheet opposite to the transparent stripes of the other sheet to varying degrees. The stripes may not be of constant width or pitch on either or both sheets. As shown, the widths of stripes 31 are equal as are the stripes 30, the latter being somewhat greater than the former. The two sheets are formed as a continuous sheet with one end secured to a fixed bar 14 and the other end secured to a roller 13 operated by a pulley 36 and cord 35, this latter being under tension by a spring-urged pulley block 38. A roller 27 rests freely in the bight of the material to keep the latter taut. The roller 13 is supported at each end in an open topped U-bearing 18 and the rod 14 is supported in a U-slot 20 in a block 19 which is slid into a bracket 21, Fig. 3. In another embodiment three sheets are suspended from spaced points of a pair of horizontally pivoted levers which provide the differential movement of the sheets.
