Abstract
926,399. Patterns. HOWE SOUND CO. Nov. 3, 1961 [May 3, 1961], No. 39476/61. Class 83 (1). In a cored pattern element 2 for the production of turbine components with elongated passages therein, the cores 8 are supported by means 10 having a first portion 12 through which the cores pass and a second portion 14 extending beyond the outer periphery of the pattern for embedding in the mould 16 to be formed around the pattern. The supporting elements are preferably of the same metal as that being cast or a composition which will dissolve during casting. A coating of an oxidising-resistant material such as chromium or aluminum may be provided on the elements 10 before assembly and the extensions 14 are machined off the final casting.
