Abstract

<PICT:0924831/III/1> The cathode carriers of flat cathodes are coated with emission material by inserting or clamping them in a centrifuge in such a manner that each of the surfaces to be coated lies faces the axis of rotation of the centrifuge, and spraying the cathodes with emission material during rotation of the centrifuge. As shown, the centrifuge comprises a cylinder 5 having flanges 1, 6 which are notched to receive holders 2. Mandrels 4 extend from the holders 2, and on them are placed the cathode carriers, with their front ends in bores in the cylinder 5, the holders then being secured in position by a cover 3. The centrifuge is then rotated, and the emission material paste applied by a spray 9.
