Abstract
924,182. Winching vehicles on to carrier vehicles. PALADIN COACHWORK Ltd. March 9, 1961 [March 16, 1960], No. 9253/60. Class 78 (4). As a caravan 3, Fig. 3, is drawn, rear-end first, on to a ramp-like trailer 1 by a cable 4, the coupling hitch of the caravan engages a hinged coupling 17, Fig. 1, and swings an arm 16 about a pivot 18, thus tilting the caravan into a substantially horizontal position. The winch 23 for winding in the cable may be either on the trailer or on the towing vehicle. When a caravan is loaded front first on to the trailer, the towing hitch is attached to a hook 21 on a member 20 which is swung down into the operative position shown in chain-dotted lines. Detachable ramps 10a are provided at the rear of the trailer, the height of which may be adjusted by jacks, not shown.
