[Also in Group XXV] An office utensil, i.e. a paper fastener or index tab, comprises a substantially rectangular surrounding frame and a central tongue 3 resiliently connected to a web 2 of the frame, the frame further including side-holding portions 4, 5, resiliently connected to the web at each side of and spaced from the tongue, the tongue having an area of reduced dimension 11 at its juncture with the web, the area being curved on each side and terminating in a shoulder 13 on the tongue with sharp corners directed towards the side portions, each of the side corners having areas of reduced dimension 12 at their junctures with the web and being curved at the inner sides at such areas to form other shoulders 13 with sharp corners respectively directed inwardly towards the tongue, the frame having a bridge 6 spaced from the adjacent end of the tongue, the side holding portions and the tongue being pre-tensioned to bend in opposite directions so as to be respectively, out of alignment with and at opposite sides of the web in the inoperative position of the utensil, the tongue and side portions being deflectable through the position of alignment with the web to grip one or more sheets of material between them. In a modification, a second shorter tongue extends from the bridge 6 towards the tongue 3.
