Abstract

923,228. Typewriters. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Sept. 20, 1961 [Oct. 27, 1960; Nov. 17, 1960], No. 33716/61. Class 100 (2). A truncated spherical printing head is detachably mounted on a driving-shaft 5 by a U-shaped spring 24 whose side arms 27, 28 engage a bevelled recess 33 cut in the shaft 5. The bevel urges the printing head into position. To remove the head the ends 30 are squeezed together. The spring, apart from the operating ends 30, is enclosed by a moulded plastic cap 19 having pillars 20 with ends which are moulded over the upper end wall of the head. In a modification, Fig. 7, a spring 30 formed from flat material is attached to a segment 35 designed as a continuation of the cap 19. The spring engages either side of the driving spindle 6 and is retained in position by a lip 36 engaging a latching position 27.
