923,185. Educational apparatus. H. SHAW. Oct. 27, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 38383/58. Class 146 (2). Apparatus for teaching arithmatic comprises a peg-board and pegs 1 having a cyclindrical body of unit depth, a protrusion 2 to completely fit any board hole or a hole 3 in the other end face. The protrusion 2 may be of any shape and may have a key or key-way and may be an easy push-fit or a force-fit in the holes. Pegs may be permanently joined together as by adhesive or a force-fit to form rods of multiple unit length which are differently coloured or multi-unit integral rods may be provided which may or may not be marked off in units by grooved or raised lines. The board may have rows and columns of holes spaced slightly more than the peg radius apart so that pegs can be inserted only in alternate holes or a board 6 having rows of ten holes 7 at slightly more than diameter spacing may be used. The board 6 may have a slot 8 to receive charts for use in the teaching.
