Abstract

922,811. Ventilation. CARRIER ENGIN- -EERING CO. Ltd. May 25, 1960 [June 11, 1959; Dec. 10, 1959], Nos. 20090/59 and 42048/59. Class 137. An air-conditioning device for inserting in a duct forming part of an air-distributing system for a plurality of rooms or ship's cabins, comprises a heat-exchanger 4 and a heat-insulating cover 11 for the heat-exchanger, the cover being progressively movable from the position shown, in which all the air flowing through the device passes through the exchanger, to a position in which it completely covers the exchanger and allows all the air flow to by-pass the exchanger. The cover is movable by the rod 9 which may be actuated pneumatically, electrically, or manually by means of the device 10. In the modification of Fig. 4, the device may be used on its own, in which case a fan 14 is incorporated. The by-passing air passes through a perforated plate 22 and a drip-tray 20 catches moisture dropping from the exchanger when it is used as a cooler. Specification 903,688 is referred to.
