Abstract

922,776. Cash registers. C. & A. BRENNINKMEYER G.m.b.H. April 28, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 15529/61. Class 106 (1). Ticket-cutting and stacking apparatus is characterized by control means disposed in a ticket-insertion slot and adapted for initiating an automatically performed sequence of operations which results in the severing of a stub from an inserted ticket, the removal of the latter initiating an automatically performed sequence of operations resulting in the stacking of the stub in a storage container. The insertion of a ticket 10 in a slot 14 of a cash register, causes a flap 16 to operate a microswitch contact and illuminate a lamp 18. When the ticket is in the correct position, light from this lamp passes through apertures 20, 19, 22, on to a photo diode 23, thus energizing a relay 27, Fig. 10 (not shown). The ticket extends through a slot 15 in the cover 13 of a collecting drawer 8, and its lower edge 29 engages two feelers 30, thereby operating a microswitch 31 and energizing a magnet which, by means of two pins 33, secures the ticket against a guide blade 21 in the cutting position. Simultaneously, a relay is energized which causes a first motor 28, Fig. 1 (not shown), to execute an angular movement. This moves a cutting plate 34 against a stationary counter cutter 35 and produces a profiled cut, Fig. 4 (not shown), until the motor is disconnected by a finger which is fixed to the plate 34, engaging a stationary microswitch. An arm 41, also secured to the cutter 34, pushes a carriage 43, to the rear of drawer 8, in a track 42, until the ratchet tooth 45 of a latch 44 engages the top of a fixed wall 46. This withdraws the feelers 30 from the drawer 8 so that the stub of the ticket can drop into its stacking position. Withdrawing the remainder of the ticket switches on the motor 28 once more to execute a return movement. The cutter 34 withdraws until the attached finger contacts another microswitch which disconnects the first motor and, via a relay, starts a second motor which moves a set of stacking pins 60 into apertures 61 on the rear portion 62 of the drawer 8, pushing forward a spring-urged slide member 77 and thus stacking the severed ticket stub at 79. As the stacking pins advance, a plate 106 attached to them, releases a latch 44, thus allowing the spring-urged carriage 43 to return. Means are provided for counting the number of cutting operations and for indicating when the stacking drawer, which may be part of the cash drawer, is full. The lid 13 of the drawer 8 is normally locked in position and a spring-biased slide 73 automatically closes the slot 15 when the drawer is removed from the housing.
