Abstract

The invention comprises benzhydrazides of the general formula: <FORM:0921322/IV(a)/1> and their acid addition salts wherein R represents the a -phenylisopropyl or a -cyclopentylisopropyl radical. The hydrazides are hydrazones of the formula: <FORM:0921322/IV(a)/2> wherein R2 represents methyl and R1 represents benzyl or cyclopentylmethyl with hydrogen and a metallic hydrogenation catalyst or with a metal hydride, the hydrazones being prepared by condensing benzhydrazide with an appropriate aldehyde or ketone. The Provisional Specification also discloses compounds of the general formula I wherein R1 and R2 each represent alkyl or aralkyl radicals.
