Abstract
920,974. Engine mountings for vehicles. ANDRE CITROEN S.A. July 31, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 26315/59. Class 79(3) A motor vehicle, particularly a commercial vehicle, comprises a chassis frame 5 (Fig. 5), a driving axle 1, an elastic suspension 12 for the frame on the axle, elastic means 20, 21, 22 connecting the engine to the frame in the vertical direction and a mechanical transmission 16 between the engine and the axle and is characterized in that a rigid element 18, 19, distinct from the transmission is inserted between the axle and the engine while elastic means are either interposed between an end of the element and the engine or between a point on the element and the frame. The suspension 12 consists of leaf springs having shackles 14 fitted with elastic blocks 16, 17. In Fig. 8, the frame is supported on hydro-pneumatic units and bars 24 connect the axle to a cross member 25 mounted resiliently at 26 and 27 while in Fig. 11 a cross member 32 connected to the frame by shackles 33 is connected to the axle 1 by bar 31 and 32, the displacement of the shackles being limited by resilient blocks 34, 35 and the axle being connected to the frame by a pair of inclined hydro-pneumatic units. Other arrangements of a spring interposed between one end of the rigid element and the engine and/or of a member on the element mounted between a pair of opposing springs are schematically illustrated. The invention high-frequency, low-amplitude vibrations of the axle.
