An extrusion press ram, particularly for sheathing cables with lead or aluminium, has an enlarged head 3 and one or more enlargements 7 spaced from the head. This facilitates the removal of the residue skirt 5 during withdrawal of the ram. A plurality of cutters 9 divide the skirt into longitudinal strips.
