Abstract
Textile materials of high molecular weight polyesters of aromatic dicarboxylic acids are dyed and printed by means of printing pastes or padding solutions which contain alkali salts of sulphonated castor or olive oils or other wetting agents in amounts of at least 80g of a 50% by weight solution per kg of paste or per litre of padding solution and a dyestuff of the formula <FORM:0919270/IV (b)/1> wherein X is hydrogen or a monovalent substituent conventionally employed in vat dyes and Y is hydrogen or the trifluormethyl radical and wherein the anthraquinone nucleus may be further substituted; subsequently the material is subjected to temperatures of 190220 DEG C. for 30-120 seconds. The other wetting agents may be sodium ricinoleate, alkyl sulphonates, alkyl-naphthalene sulphonates, alkyl-phenol polyglycol ethers, alkyl-pyridine hydrochloride derivatives or sulphonated oleic acid amides. The printing paste or padding liquor may contain a thickening agent such as crystallised rubber and a drying step may be introduced before thermofixing. Examples are given of the dyeing and printing of polyethylene glycol terephthalate in which the following dyestuffs are employed: 4-aminoanthraquinone-2.1(N)- benzacridone, 3-bromo-4-amino-anthraquinone- 2.1(N)-benzacridone, 3-chloro- 4-aminoanthraquinone-2.1(N)-benzacridone, 61-chloro- 4-amino-anthraquinone-2.1(N)- benzacridone, 41-trifluoro-methyl-4- amino-anthraquinone- 2.1(N) -benzmethyl-4- amnino-anthraquinone- 2.1(N)-benzacridone. After thermofixing the material is treated in a bath at 60-70 DEG C. for 15 minutes containing sodium hydroxide, sodium hydrosulphite and polyvinyl pyrrolidone, thereafter rinsed, soaped, rinsed again and dried.
