A supporting device for an article such as a camera comprising tri- or quadri-pods has a mounting head, for example an arcuate bolt 13, carrying an article-supporting bracket 12 and a plurality of independent wedges 11, of which at least one is disposed between the flattened upper ends 10c of each adjacent pair of legs, the wedges being mounted for independent rotation for effecting angular relative adjustment of the legs, means, for example a nut 13a being provided for clamping said wedges and leg ends in position.
