Abstract
916,391. Switchgear structures. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 22, 1961 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 43687/59. Class 38 (5). A prefabricated electric sub - station comprises a number of adjoining rooms arranged in line and containing electrical gear arranged in sequence from one end, the input end, to the other end, the output end. In Fig. 1, rooms 1, 3, 4 and 5 house, respectively, high voltage switchgear 9, a transformer 10, rectifiers 11 and output circuitbreakers 12. An amenities room 2 houses signalling equipment 18, a distribution board 19 and batteries 20. The external walls of the rooms 1, 2, 4 and 5 are formed from panels each comprising spaced sheets of fire-retarding boards, the space between the boards being filled with fibreglass and aluminium sheets being fixed to the outer faces. The four walls of the transformer room 3 are made from concrete blocks and, like the panels, are mounted between vertical aluminium posts. The partition walls 17 and 33 are of ships board and the roof is of corrugated aluminium sheeting.
