916,272. Cartridge-operated fastener driving tools. SIDDONS, J. R. Nov. 10, 1961 [Nov. 10, 1960], No. 38695/60. Class 119. In a cartridge-operated fastener driving tool of the piston type, the driving piston 12 acts on a separate pusher 18 which drives the fastener 15, the rear end 27 of the pusher being a gastight sliding fit in a counter-bore 24 of the piston 12 and the piston having a through bore 23 leading to the counter-bore 24 to enable the explosive gases to act directly on the rear end of the pusher. A gas-escape port 25 leading from the counter-bore 24 to the side of the piston is opened when the pusher 18 moves away from the piston.
