Abstract

915,894. Swimming baths. CARTER, B. R. May 3, 1961 [May, 3, 1960], No. 15639/60. Class 26. A cover for a swimming pool comprises a sheet of material having a main portion 1 adapted to lie upon, or be spaced above, the surface of the water and a skirt portion 5 weighted along its edges by weights 3 to hold it below the surface, attachment means 4 being provided to secure it to the sides of the pool. As shown, the attachment means 4 comprise pockets of the cover bunched around balls to which ropes 15 from the walls of the pool are connected. Tie-ropes 5 are provided between the means 4 to prevent the cover stretching. The cover may be of a synthetic plastics material and when spaced above the water serves to prevent heat loss. If the cover is layed on the surface of the water and is formed of a block material it can absorb heat from the sun and so effect heating of the water.
