Abstract
915,736. Endless conveyers. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. June 1, 1961 [Sept. 29, 1960], No. 33506/60. Class 78 (1). Oblong sweets 11 distributed at random on a conveyer belt 14 are brought into single file with their major axes aligned by a horizontal rotating disc 16 co-operating with the conveyer belt 14, and a resilient finger 17. The sweets 11 are fed by an input conveyer belt 13 to the belt 14. The disc 16, the peripheral speed of which exceeds the speed of belt 14, guides the sweets past resilient finger 17 into a feed channel 15 of a wrapping-machine (not shown). Correctlyaligned sweets pass the hook end 19 of finger 17 without obstruction (Fig. 1) but misaligned sweets A are engaged by the hook (see Fig. 3) and aligned to pass the hook by the greater speed of the disc 16 rotating the sweet about the end of the hook. The sweets are fed by grippers 22 into pockets 25 of a feed disc 24. When there is no sweet behind the gripped sweet a blocking shutter 23 is actuated by a photo-cell 21. The shutter 23 will not open again until the sweets have built up to a second photo-cell 20.
