A process for the bonding of metals using known synthetic resin adhesives is characterized in that the parts to be bonded are heated to a temperature of 50‹ to 250‹ C. for a period of from 10 seconds to 5 minutes to produce a high initial bonding strength. Heat-curing or cold-curing types of adhesives are used for example (a) unsaturated polyester resins, monomeric acrylic or methacrylic acid esters, styrene and polyvinyl ethers, or (b) polystyrene with monomeric methyl methacrylate, or (c) polystyrene, monomeric methyl methacrylate, unsaturated polyester resins and minor amounts of polychloroprene, or (d) polystyrene, styrene and acrylic acid, or (e) adhesives based on epoxide resins. The heat treatment temperature is produced by high-frequency welding equipment of known type and is applied for approximately 3 minutes when using a heatcuring adhesive and approximately 10 seconds for a cold-curing adhesive. In an example, strips of anticorodal are cemented together and immediately introduced into a drying chamber for 1 minute at 80‹ C. and then allowed to cool for 4 minutes. Other examples of joining strips of Bondur and copper are disclosed in the Specification.
