Abstract
914,101. Measuring electrically. WAYNE KERR LABORATORIES Ltd., and CALVERT, R. May 25, 1961 [March 1, 1960], No. 7260/60. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] A variable, e.g. temperature or liquid level, varies impedance 10 to produce a signal applied to windings 14, 15 on two transformers 16, 17; impedances 18, 22 determine signals in windings 19, 23, one corresponding to the upper allowable limit of the variable, and the other to the low allowable limit; windings 20, 24 thus develop signals corresponding to the differences between the variable and its upper and lower allowable limits; these signals are applied to phase discriminating detectors 21, 25, one of which delivers an output when the variable moves outside its allowable limits; detectors 21, 25 control an indicator or servomotor 26 to bring the variable back between the limits defined by 18.22. Further windings 30, 31 may be used to sum the difference signals algebraically and provide at 33 an indication of the deviation of the variable from the mean of the upper and lower allowable limits.
