Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of formula <FORM:0913899/IV (b)/1> where R1 is cyanalkyl of 3 to 5 C atoms, g -cyano-b -hydroxy- or acetoxy-propyl, R2 alkyl of 1 to 4 C atoms, hydroxyalkyl of 2 to 4 C atoms, acetoxyalkyl of 4 to 6 C atoms or cyanalkyl of 3 to 5 C atoms, R3 is H, Cl, Me, OMe or CF3, R4 is H, Me or OMe, Z1 is an alkyl group which may be substituted by halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy or acetoxy groups, a cycloalkyl or aralkyl group and Z2 is H, Cl, NHCOMe, NO2 or CN. The dyes are made in conventional fashion from appropriate dicarboxy-diazo and aniline coupling components Diesters of aniline-2,3-, -3,4-,-2,5-and -3,5-dicarboxylic acids are indicated as diazo components. Representative of indicated values for Z1 are methyl, isopropyl, stearyl, halo-, hydroxy-, alkoxy- and acetoxy alkyl, cyclohexyl and benzyl. The dyes colour textile materials of polyamides, polyesters and cellulose esters. Lacquers, varnishes, waxes and plastic materials may be coloured. Numerous examples are provided of the preparation of the dyes and their use in colouring cellulose acetate and polyethylene glycol terephthalate in various colour shades.
