Abstract

The invention comprises coumaran derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0913535/IV (b)/1> wherein R stands for a hydrogen or chlorine atom, their preparation by oxidation of diphenylmethane derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0913535/IV (b)/2> and veterinary compositions containing the compounds. Veterinary compositions useful in the treatment of liver fluke infestations particularly in domestic animals, and containing the above compounds as active ingredients, may be administered orally, e.g. as tablets or drenches or in animal foodstuffs. The Provisional Specification comprises compounds (and their preparation) of the general formula <FORM:0913535/IV (b)/3> wherein R1 stands for a chlorine or bromine atom, and R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, stand for hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atoms or alkyl radicals.
