Abstract
912,182. Switchgear structures. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 16, 1960 [Jan. 11, 1960], No. 963/60. Class 38 (5). Metal-clad switchgear comprises a fixed structure ST supporting in each phase insulating receptacles 1, 1b which carry terminals 4 ... 7 co-operable with terminals 9, 10 of a circuitbreaker 11. Terminals 4, 5 are connected to a current transformer CT through conductors C1, C2, terminal 4 also connecting with a voltage transformer VT and the feeder cable CA. Terminals 6, 7 are connected through a conducting plate CP to one of the bus-bars 2, normal operation obtaining with the breaker 11 in the position shown. The feeder may be earthed by lowering the breaker 11, moving it in the direction of the arrow 13 and then raising it to connect the terminal 4 to an earth terminal 8, the transformer CT thereby being excluded from the circuit and terminals 6, 7 being covered by a shutter, Fig. 2 (not shown). The bus-bars may be earthed through terminals 7, 8 by moving the breaker 11 in the direction F. The connections between members 4, 5, C1, C2 may be of the plug-and-socket type and the insulation of members C1, C2, CT may be formed as a unit by casting from synthetic resin. receptacles 1, 1b also being formed in this way. The switchgear may alternatively be of the horizontal draw-out type.
