912,047. Foot-operated flushing-devices for cisterns. BOOTH, A. P. Feb. 1961 [March 3, 1960], No. 7518/60. Class 26. A foot-actuated control assembly for a watercloset flushing mechanism comprises a foot pedal 3 with a carrier plate 6 to be affixed on or in a floor or other surface below the bowl 2 and a pedal arm 12 hinged to the plate 6, and a draw means, e.g. a wire 4, incorporating a pressure-compensating device for coupling between the arm 12 and the flush lever 5 or equivalent member. The plate 6 is affixed by means of an adhesive material or a material which can receive a bonding substance. An auxiliary holder plate 7 may be used mounted on a suitable surface, e.g. an adjacent wall, having upstanding guide means, e.g. ribs 8 as shown, removably to receive the plate 6. The pedal arm 12 has an extension piece 17 slidably mounted thereon, and adjustable longitudinally of the arm in guides 16 in a projection 14 thereof before affixing by a set screw 18. The pressure-compensating device may be a tension spring 22 fastened (to allowadjustment of its effective length) to the wire 4 by means of a stud 20 and set screw 21. The pedal arm 12 has a hollow arched portion 13 which forms a foot support and may have a hard adjustable rubber pad 15. The portion 13 forms a housing for a disinfectant, deodorant, or other disseminatable substance.
