912,000. Upsetting; stretching. ECKOLD, W. June 15, 1961 [June 15, 1960], No. 21754/61. Addition to 839,871. Class 83 (4). Apparatus for stretching or upsetting metal sheet or sections comprising a bottom and a top tool which clamp the sheet between them and effect the upsetting or stretching by an oppositely directed movement of their clamping jaws, said jaws being equipped with pressureplates, as specified in any one of Claims 1 to 7 of the parent Specification, is characterized in that the pressure plates are secured to steel baseplates, projections on the base-plates, or pins passing through holes in the base-plates engage the plastic plates and corresponding recesses in the clamping jaws. Base-plates 1, Figs. 1, 2, have bosses 2 pressed out on alternate sides which engage recesses in clamping jaws and pressure plates. Alternatively, Fig. 3, holes 5 are formed in a base-plate 4 cemented to plastic plates 3 and pins 8 are received in these holes and in recesses 7 in clamping jaws 6. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6, segments 10 are pressed out alternately in opposite directions in an annular portion of a base-plate 9. The pressure-plates may be cast on to the baseplates.
