Abstract
911,899. Grinding contact-breaker points. SKIPP, V. A. Sept. 19, 1961[Out.14, 1960], No. 35202/60. Class 60. A device for re-surfacing, by grinding or polishing, the contact points of a a contactbreaker comprises a pivot pin 11 on which the contact elements and their supports are mounted so as to maintain their operational relationship, means 2, 3 for supporting a grinding and/or polishing element 7 which is interposed between the contacts 14, 15, and means 20 for resiliently urging at least one of the contacts towards the grinding element. The latter comprises a copper disc held between plates 6, 8 which is rotatable by a spindle 2 which may be manually or power driven. The spindle is capable of axial movement whereby pressure may be transmitted from the resiliently loaded contact 15 and, through the disc, to the fixed contact 14 which may be positioned by an adjustable stop 17 mounted in an upstanding portion of the base-plate 1; the latter may be of sheet metal. A grinding paste may be applied to one or both faces of the disc 7 and after grinding is completed a metal polishing compound may be applied to the disc.
