911,685. Valves. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 14, 1961 [Nov. 1, 1960], No. 37502/60. Class 135. An adjustable control valve, particularly for use in a vulcanization plant for electric cables, comprises a pair of back and front cover-plates 1, 3 secured together and having apertures 18, 19 therethrough, a rotatable control disc 2 seated in an annular recess between the two plates and a number of identical sectors 5 to 10, each having apex angles together totalling 360 degrees and having linear edges in sliding contact with each other, a driving connection between the control disc and the individual sectors and, connections between each of the sectors and the cover-plate to effect simultaneous mutual sliding movement of all of the sectors to vary the area of the control aperture. The sectors are each provided with keys 14, 15 for engagement with slots 16, 17 in the plate 3 and with holes 13 for engagement with pins 12 fixed in the rotatable plate. By rotating the plate 2 between two extreme limits, the sectors are moved from a pulley closed position shown in Fig. 3 to a pulley open position.
