Abstract

911,301. Belt tensioning devices. HARRISON, McGREGOR & GUEST Ltd. Jan. 14, 1960 [Jan. 15, 1959], No. 1464/59. Class 80 (1). Belt tensioning means comprises a jockey pulley 10 mounted on pivoted telescopic members 13, 17 and urged into contact with the lowtension side of the belt by tension springs 19. The pulley 10 is rotatably mounted on a tubular axle 11 which is clamped at its ends to the outer telescopic tubes 13 by means of eye-bolts 14. Rods 17, located within the tubes 13, are welded to washers 18 which are rotatably mounted on an anchorage bar 22, and the tension springs 19, located between the rods 17 and tubes 13, have their ends secured to the washers 13 and pins 21, secured in the outer ends of the tubes 13, respectively. The belt drive acts as an over-running clutch.
