Abstract

The invention comprises 14-hydroxymorphine and its therapeutically acceptable acid addition salts, and the preparation of the base by reducing 14-hydroxymorphinone with sodium borohydride. The products are useful as analgesics. 14-Hydroxycodeine is formed when 14-hydroxymorphine is treated with diazomethane.
