Abstract

909,571. Measuring angles. CHAMBERLAIN INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 2, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958], No. 27832/58. Class 97 (3). [Also in Group XXII] A device for measuring the angle of bend imparted to rods or tubes in a bending machine comprises a guide 5 which is relatively fixed and a rod 3 which is slidable relatively thereto and provided with an abutment 2 for contacting the rod or tube 1 at the middle of the bend, the rod 3 having a scale 15. As applied to a machine of the type in which the rod or tube 1 is laid across abutments 9b and is bent by displacing a head between the abutments, the abutments 9b being secured by pins 9d engaging one of a plurality of pairs of holes 9c in a frame 9 supporting the movable head, the guide 5 is provided with spring-pressed or screw-pressed lugs engaging the edges of an opening 9a in the frame 9. The scale 15 is visible through a window 13 in guide 5 and co-operates with a scale of tube or rod diameters provided on the guide 5. The end 3a of rod 3 is bent through 180 degrees and threadedly receives a shank 2a carrying the abutment 2.
