[Also in Groups XIX, XXXV and XXXVIII] In a rotary indexing device having a sixcored stator and two pole rotor (see Group XXXV), a freewheel device mounted on the rotor shaft 5 ensures that the rotor turns in one direction only. A disc 8 secured to the shaft has a peripheral flange 8a whose internal surface co-operates with a cylinder 9 carried in a resilient arm 10 mounted on a shaft 11 so that the arm can be rocked by means of lever 12 between positions determined by stops 13. The cylinder lightly touches the flange and chordal surface 14a of brake element 14. Thus the rotor can rotate in one direction according to the roller's position, but reverse movement wedges the cylinder between the cylindrical and chordal surfaces.
