909,166. Photographic developing apparatus. BEUMERS, M. Sept. 8, 1960, No. 30924/60. Class 98 (2). A developing apparatus has successive treatment tanks 2a, 2b, 2c, the exposed films being carried in frames such as 3. Each frame is carried by a strap 8 fitting round a lead screw 4 running above the sequence of tanks, and having a pin 9 engaging in the thread of the screw. As the lead screw is turned by handle 4x, the film carrier frame is caused to traverse the tank from side to side. The portions 4a, 4b, 4c of the lead screw corresponding to the different tanks are of differing pitch, according to the varying treatment times required for each tank. As the carrier frame reaches the end of each tank, it rides up over the curved shoulder of a guide plate 5, and so swings upwards about the axis of the lead screw. The carrier frame is thus lifted clear of the tank, and the dividing wall, and is guided down over the other shoulder of the guide plate into the next tank. The sections 4ab, 4ac of the lead screw between the tanks have a substantially larger pitch, so that the frame carrier 3 moves up and down rapidly in clearing the wall between one tank and the next.
