Abstract

Vulcanizable rubber compositions contain a delayed-action accelerator of formula <FORM:0909074/IV(a)/1> in which R1 and R2 are hydrogen, furyl, lower alkyl, monocyclic aryl or monocyclic aralkyl radicals or in which R1 and R2 together constitute a cycloalkylidene radical, e.g. N-cyclohexylidene, N-isopropylidene, N-(p-dimethylaminobenzylidene)- or N-furfurylidenebenzothiazole-2-sulphenamide. The rubber is exemplified by natural rubber, polymers of butadiene-1,3 and copolymers of butadiene-1,3 with vinyl compounds such as acrylonitrile, styrene and acrylamide. Examples are concerned with tests on vulcanizates from the accelerators in formulations of smoked sheet, furnace black, zinc oxide, stearic acid, pine tar, phenyl-beta-naphthylamine, a diphenylamine-acetone reaction product and sulphur.
