Abstract
908,913. Coke-oven doors. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Sept. 8, 1960 [Sept. 30, 1959], No. 31023/60. Class 55 (1). A replaceable refractory plug for coke-oven doors comprises one or more sections 10a, 10b, 10c arranged vertically end to end and each section having a backing plate 12 provided with bolts 14 which extend outwardly on one side for fixing to the remainder 8 of the door and also on the other side with reinforcing wire mesh 20 which is encased in a castable refractory material 32. There may be two sets of wire mesh 20, 26, of generally U- shape with inturned ends welded to plate 12. All the soctions 10a, 10b, 10c are identical except that the bottom section 10a has a bottom plate 16 and side plates 18 welded to the bottom of plate 12. U.S.A.
