Abstract
An oximation waste solution, obtained during the production of a cyclo-aliphatic ketoxime, is treated for the recuperation of oxime and for utilization of hydroxylamine sulphate contained therein by mixing the still hot waste solution with a sufficient quantity of the cyclo-aliphatic ketone used in the oximation, passing the mixture through a cooling system and separating the resulting solution of oxime in the cyclo-aliphatic ketone from the waste solution which then contains ammonium or alkali metal sulphate freed from oxime and hydroxylamine sulphate. The oximation waste solutions are those obtained in the production of the ketoximes by reacting appropriate ketones with a hydroxylamine sulphate solution, which itself has been produced by a process using alkali metal or ammonium nitrites or bisulphites, the mixture being neutralised e.g. with ammonia. The oximation mixture may contain melted oxime and a 40-42% ammonium sulphate solution at 85-95 DEG C., and the melted oxime may be separated from the ammonium sulphate solution while still hot. The treatment of waste solutions obtained in the production of cyclohexanone oxime and o-methyl cyclohexanone oxime is described.
