In an apparatus for dispensing in predetermined proportions, and mixing, viscous substances, e.g. an epoxy resin and a hardener, the containers C in which the component materials are delivered are placed over fixed pistons 1 having axial feed bores 5 and pipes 4 communicating with a mixing and dispensing head 6. The containers are forced down over the fixed pistons by thrust from pistons and rods 18, 19, actuated by hydraulic rams 9, the pistons 10 of which have rods hinged to a beam 12 pivoted at 14 and operated by a pneumatic cylinder and pistons 11, 24. The position of the rams 9 in relation to the beam 12 is adjustable to vary the proportion of the two materials supplied. The fixed pistons 1 have domed beads to ensure that all air is expelled when the containers are placed over them. The thrust heads 20 are concave to correspond and the fixed pistons have radial slots to allow material at the periphery of the container to reach the central bore 5. The mixing head 6, Fig. 3, has a body 34 having an outer nozzle 7 and an internal slotted baffle 40 through which passes the end of the mixing and compressing member 35, which has a compressing worm section 42 and a mixing and agitating section 43 having a plurality of blades 44. The mixing member also has a socket adapted to engage the end 46 of a motor-driven shaft 47. Two feed ports 36 are designed to seal with the ends 48 of the feed pipes 4. In order that the mixing head may be readily removable and replaceable, the two component material supply systems, each comprising a container C, fixed piston 1, feed pipe 4 and cylinder 8 are each mounted as units to be pivotal on a shaft 49 (see Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), near the top of the machine and to grip the mixing head between them. When used with materials such as epoxy resins the mixing head may be expandable ; the body 34 may conveniently be a highdensity polythene moulding and the mixing member a nylon moulding or metal die casting.
