Abstract

908,464. Extensible top-pieces for heels. CAMPION, H. J. Feb. 8, 1961, No. 4670/61. Classes 17 (2) and 17 (3). A heel top-piece in the form of a plug 3 is housed in a recess 2 in the heel 1 and means are provided to extend the plug 3 as it becomes worn. Such means includes a screw-threaded rod 6 secured to the top piece and extending in a shaft 7 in the heel. The rod 6 may be accessible from within the shoe at 11 and is turned by a screw-driver, or by rotation of a nut 8 engaging the rod 6 and extending through a slot 9 in the side of the heel. The top piece may be extended by screw-threaded shafts adapted to telescope within one another. The top piece may be coloured at its upper end or provided with a pin 5 to indicate when it needs replacing.
