Abstract
907,747. Filters; making filter elements. TECALEMIT Ltd. Aug. 12, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958], No. 26963/58. Class 46. [Also in Groups V and XXVIII] A support (e.g. an end-cap) to which is secured a filter medium to form a filter element has a projecting loading which is more resilient than the body of the support. In Fig. 2 an axially pleated paper cylinder 1 located between inner and outer perforate supports 4, 5 respectively is inserted into a mould 8 containing end-cap material 3 in liquid or plastic condition, there being already in the mould in a groove 9 a previously-moulded beading 7. In Fig. 3 grooves 15 and 16 in a mould 14 are filled with material to form beadings 12 and 13 and thereafter with material to form the body 11 of the end cap, into which the filter medium 17 with its supporting screens 18 and 19 is introduced prior to hardening of the materials. In each case the upper end cap may be applied by inverting the element and repeating one of the above processes; or if the material is in a thick or plastic state the upper and lower caps can be bonded to the filter medium simultaneously.
