Abstract

907,531. Card wires. ROBERTS, G., and HOLDSWORTH, A. Sept. 20, 1960 [Aug. 28, 1959], No. 29407/59. Class 120 (3). Card clothing comprises a foundation 10, made of a layer of fabric 14 and a facing 16 of rubber or leather, from which wire teeth 12 project. Each tooth comprises a root portion 20 embedded in the foundation and joined to a working portion 24 by an intermediate portion 22 which is inclined backwardly (in relation to the direction in which the clothing moves when in use) at an angle of less than 45 degrees. The portion 24 is inclined at a less acute angle to the foundation than the portion 22: the relative lengths of these portions are such as to enable the tooth to flex adequately without permanent distortion. Portions 22 and 24 may be joined by a curved portion, Fig. 2 (not shown).
