Abstract

907,152. Transistor sawtooth circuits. THOMPSON RAMO WOOLDRIDGE Inc. Dec. 22, 1959, No. 43564/59. Class 40 (6). A ramp waveform generator comprises a capacitor having charging and discharging circuits respectively connected to and across the capacitor, the waveform being linearized by means of a " bootstrap " circuit coupled to the charging circuit by means of a Zener diode. As shown, capacitor 18 is rapidly discharged by transitor 10 when pulses 30 are applied to the base. At the end of each pulse 30, capacitor 18 charges via resistor 20, the rising voltage being passed via an emitter follower 64 and a Zener diode 78 to the charging resistor 20 to linearize the waveform. In the absence of pulses 30, rise is terminated when the base potential of transistor 64 reaches that of the collector. Fig. 2 (not shown), relates to a known circuit in which resistor 62 is replaced by a diode and diode 78 is replaced by a capacitor.
