Abstract
907,122. Amplitude modulation systems. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 16, 1961 [June 21, 1960], No. 21839/61. Class 40 (5). In a vestigial sideband television transmitter the video signal is passed through a high-pass filter 4, cutting off lower frequencies, to a balanced modulator 8 and the lower sideband selected by a filter 21 and passed to a coupler 9 where it cancels out part of the lower sideband of the full sideband modulator 7 to which the video signal is also passed. The coupler may be formed by different input electrodes to a single valve, or by a hybrid circuit with dummy load.
